Maxi dresses for wedding guests
Nearly the weekend peeps! What defines the Freeday spirit and gets you more in the mood for the weekend than a little window shopping and outfit planning. This post is specially for those ladies among us planning a wedding guest outfit for a summer wedding. Maxi dresses have been knocking around for a few seasons now, but they’re less boho now and more urban sophisticate.
We picked out some fabulous and affordable versions that will stand you in good stead for the whole summer and through to autumn or winter weddings – just throw a jacket on top.
The beauty of a great maxi dress is that it translates easily from day to night. This versatile taupe maxi from Zara will work equally well in summer or winter and at any type of wedding. Over at NW3 by Hobbs they specialise in a fantastic selection of quirky prints, this fishing fly maxi dress was our favourite – and it’s on sale now!
For a bit more glamour you can up the colour stakes with this personal favourite – this showstopper pleated gown in my favourite colour – chartreuse – is from Asos. Equally distinctive is this black and coral (and sequined) panelled dress from Mango, cool enough for day but hot at night!
Colour blocking is huge this season, and electric blues and rich plums fill the rails so there are loads of choices, all going for a song in the summer sales. Asos is always a winner for dresses – this Asos Revive grecian style in cobalt is divine. Or grab a bargain in the French Connection sale – this plum full length dress would be a great choice for a bridesmaid or a guest at a black tie wedding. Lotta Stenson’s strapless plum draped dress is half price from Net-a-Porter, while Ted Baker offer a gorgeous electric blue t-shirt style shift dress with black waist detailing.
